The editor of a successful blog dedicated to an industry that produced about 95,000,000 units last year alone taking an anti-capitalist stance.
Or call it hypocrisy. In one breath to drool over Singer Porsches and in the next to complain about the existence of such opulence and the people with the means to enjoy it.
I tried to read the comments, but didn’t make it far before abandoning ship.

I’m certain it was shitposting.

Do I even want to know who it was?
Nevermind. I know now.
*sigh*

I think you actually call it satire. I mean, “Most Glorious Protest” is straight out of the communist with bad english gag book.

Fuck those motherfuckers. Burning down cars sure as hell showed all the capitalist pigs. Not

*Capitalism intensifies*

You mean like voting Republican when you aren’t part of the top 1%?
One can appreciate the existence of fine art, while simultaneously finding fault with a system that only allows those with the highest wealth to collect and appreciate it. Taking issue with the inherent inequality in our current system is not direct attack on those who happen to have benefited the most from it.

It hurts. Imagine working a shitty job for years just to have your dream car burned down by complete worthless fuckwits. Let’s hope the insurance will cover everything but I doubt it:(

What is this all about now?

Indeed, innocent cars aren’t what should be burned.
I’m not on the Singer bandwagon, either.

Hey, there are other reasons to vote Republican... Like setting back the education system a few decades, and removing the social rights of people they don’t like.

The article about the burnt Porsches? I’m 99% sure that was tongue-in-cheek.

I’m with mkbruin. Satire requires a modicum of self-awareness that I’m not sure Ballaban possess.

Irony: meeting the liberal commentary on a known-for-years liberal website with a constant state of surprise and dismay.

I see no “irony.”
Jalponik
is not dedicated to “an industry” but to people who like cars. The interests of those people obviously do not perfectly coincide with either the interests of the “industry” as a whole, nor to the capitalists who profit from it.

Automobile manufacturing is one of the most socialized industries world wide. Including the good old US. Not to mention centralized government support for all the automotive infrastructure such as public roads, public highways, public bridges and tunnels, safety regulations, etc..
Like most other socialized programs in the US - people love socialism as long as you don’t call it that.
The profits have been privatized, the risks have been socialized.

If you dream car is a Z3, you deserve to have your dreams burnt to the ground.

I’ve noticed that they are going after clicks with the late afternoon troll-bait articles recently. It’s not one author either, which leads me to theorize that this is directive from above. Rile up the readership, get more clicks and comments, thus more ad $$$. Further fallout from getting Hulk-smashed and sold to Univision.
It’s probably gonna get worse once construction of The Wall starts.

Laugh all you want, your 300C would be a primary target for dumbass antifa fuckwits. I’d love to see your reaction.

Working under capitalism doesn’t make criticism of it hypocritical. And besides, I’m pretty sure it was supposed to be satire. Clumsily done, maybe, but still . . .

Who knows, maybe he’d (futilely) argue with the following editorial.
Is The New York Times a Liberal Newspaper? Of course it is.
